It has been a great few day at one of Queenslands most progressive councils Logan City. Logan City Council hosted a round of “Dog Bite Prevention Seminars” for their very important employees. The animal control officers and pound staff are in constant contact with potentially dangerous dogs. Logan City has some very experienced staff with many years of operational experience. I was very impressed with the dedication and skills of the young ladies conducting the temperament assessments on the dogs in pound. This very important job ensures that potentially aggressive dogs are not placed back into Logan to be a danger to the public.
The seminars covered a lot of ground on how to avoid a dog bite and heaps of skills on handling aggressive dogs. Part of the program was having the staff put on a full body bite suit and have a fully trained security dog bite them on the legs and arm. This gave them a great experience on been on the receiving end of a dog bite. The dogs owner Mr. Luke Clifton is a very skilled dog handler and played an important role at the seminar with patrol dog Sinda.
Only a few weeks ago we were at Logan with the World’s first Koala detection dog Oscar
