Jaxon

Introducing Jaxon the hearing and assistance dog. Jaxon the staffy is in the first stage of his training as a hearing assistance dog for Alison his elderly owner who is 90% deaf. Jaxon will be able to notify Alison with many common sounds t…hat require attention. Some of the most common sounds is the microwave oven, the doorbell or someone knocking on the front door. The most important thing Jaxon will have to indicate on and notify Alison is the smoke alarm. Jaxon will continue his training in other areas of an assistance dog including picking items of the ground and opening cupboard doors for Alison. Jaxon is also a wonderful companion for Alison and it will be difficult for her whilst Jaxon is away for training as the two are inseparable.
Queensland State Legislation
The Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs Act 2009 came into effect on 1 July 2009. The new legislation ensures that every person who relies on a guide, hearing or assistance dog has the same access rights as others to public places and public passenger vehicles. This includes cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, sports venues, taxis and buses. From 1 September 2009, significant penalties will apply to individuals and corporations for breaches of the Act.

After a career spanning 30 years and 1000′s of dogs trained and supplied to many families and law enforcement homes Gary Jackson is to retire from all Guard dog Training here in Australia, January 1st, 2013 will mark my official retirement.
It has been a wonderful journey knowing that I have made a big difference saving 100′s of dogs on death row and placing them into working homes and supplied so many great people.

I will continue to be a protection dog and decoy consultant and run seminars training handlers and decoys to the next generation of trainers.

My work in obedience, behaviour and detection dog training will continue as normal.

Good luck to all the Guard dog trainers and decoys around the world, it is such a specialist area that very few master as it requires many years of training and dedication.
